Ventura County home prices rise
The year in real estate ended with more of the same in Ventura County, as home prices continued to climb in December while the number of homes sold continued to drop.
In December, according to data released last week by the California Association of Realtors, the median price of existing single-family homes sold in Ventura County was $882,500, up 7.9% from a year earlier. Sales volume, though, was down 8.3% in a year.
Those trends — a gradual rise in prices and a low number of homes on the market — held for much of 2023 and are expected to continue into 2024, according to most real estate economists.
The real estate business tends to be seasonal, with prices spiking every summer and dipping every winter. Ventura County’s median price of $882,500 in December 2023 was the county’s highest ever for a December, according to the Realtors association.
